The AOM mission is the promotion and the defense of the fundamental rights in the countries of the Mediterranean basin. It allows to standardize the experiences and the initiatives of the various Ombudsman institutions for a collective enrichment, to strength the relations between the members, and the ties of cooperation.

The common goal is to disseminate the principles of democracy and good governance, to raise citizens’ awareness of their rights and obligations. The members commit to make visible their engagements relating to the defense of these rights and thus contribute to the construction of a fair and equal society.
